What do I need to start shopping?
Just have the zip code or address where you want the electricity turned on. If you already live here, it’s sometimes helpful to have a current bill from the place you’re going to move from to compare your current plan.
What plans are available?
Whether you want to help the environment with 100% renewable energy or get rewarded with cash back, we’ve got you covered. See plans in your area here.
How can I be sure I picked the right plan?

How much electricity can I expect to use?
Most Texans’ electricity use is driven by long, hot summers. During July and August, our electricity use can be nearly three times as high as it is during more mild months. This is one of the main reasons we tend to use more electricity than most other states. By contrast, our friends in California use about half the Texas average.
What are TDU delivery charges?
Your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) is the company that maintains the poles and wires and reads your meter. You’ll pay TDU delivery charges no matter which electricity provider you’re with and, we pass these charges on to you with no markup. Learn more about TDU charges.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
Nope. You can choose a flexible month-to-month plan with no long-term contract or cancellation fee. But if you’re looking for something more long-term, you may want to lock in a plan with guaranteed price protection.
Will I have to pay a deposit?
Maybe, it depends on your current credit score. But no worries. We have low deposit plans and other options to help you with paying your deposit.
If you don’t have a Texas Driver’s License, you’ll want to provide your Social Security Number for the credit check when you sign up. It can help you avoid paying a deposit by giving us more accurate credit history.
Do you have renewable energy plans?
Yes! You can add wind and solar energy to any plan for a low monthly rate with TXU Energy GreenUp, or you can choose plans that provide power from solar farms or plans with rooftop solar power.
What's your most popular plans?
Our Free Nights plans are our most popular. You get free electricity every night so you can sleep cool and comfortable all year long. If no one’s usually at home during the day, this plan could be a great fit.
What kind of plan is best for me?
