I had a deposit with Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L). How do I get it back?
Your deposit should be returned to you as a credit on your final bill from LP&L. If your deposit is greater than your final bill amount, LP&L should return the balance to you. If after 7 days your deposit hasn’t been credited or returned, we recommend calling LP&L at 806-775-2509.
-
Will I have a deposit with TXU Energy?
In some circumstances, a deposit may be required to maintain your service. We will send you a separate notice if one is needed. All deposits are refunded with interest after 12 months of on-time payments. You may be able to waive or lower your deposit in certain circumstances. Deposit requirements could change if you choose a different TXU Energy plan or a different electricity provider.
-
How can I get help with my deposit or get it waived?
You may be eligible for a waived or lower deposit if you’re 55 years of age or older, a victim of family violence, or medically indigent. We can also accept a letter of credit from the City of Lubbock Utilities if you’ve paid your electricity bills on time for the last 12 months. Additional waivers are available.
You can email your letter of credit or other waiver form to txuenergy@txu.com. Be sure to include your TXU Energy account number from the letter we mailed to you, as well as your full name, service address and date of birth.
You can also call us at 844-359-6736 to learn more and see if you qualify for a waiver or lower deposit.
-
I paid my bill automatically every month. Will that carry over?
Unfortunately, no. LP&L doesn’t share that type of information. But it’s easy to set up a free online account with us and download our app where you can turn on AutoPay, paperless billing and other helpful features like budget alerts. All you need is your TXU Energy account number, which you’ll find on the letter we mailed to you. You can also call us at 844-359-6736 and we’ll help.

When can I expect my first bill from TXU Energy?
You should receive your first bill in the mail in April, around the same time you received your electricity bill from Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L). Your billing cycle is determined by your meter read date. While your provider has changed, your Transmission & Distribution Utility (TDU) is still LP&L, and they will continue to read your meter about every 28-32 days.
If you prefer to pay your bill automatically or online every month, you can easily set up a free online account with us. You can always pay over the phone, by mail or in person at one of our 20 authorized payment centers in Lubbock and the surrounding area.
